Cal State University East Bay (Hayward) Audiology Van
This project was the remodel of a Ford E 350 van with a Turtle Top Van Terra steel cage / aluminum compartment.

When the van was delivered to Cal State University East Bay (Hayward) Audiology from the factory, it soon became apparent that outside noise intruded to such a degree that the hearing tests for high schoolers could not be reliably performed. When the van was parked in a school yard, it quickly overheated and the shore power 110V system was never close enough to an outlet to be hooked up, even with an extension cord.

Bay Area Bus Repair was the winning bidder and the perfect shop to execute the work. BABR has contracts with UCSF, Cisco and many others so working with CSUEB was no problem, air conditioners and generators had been installed before, most notably for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a willingness to do something new to install soundproofing under David’s close supervision.
